I suspect my elderly parents are being financially abused. What should I do?
Your first concern and ours, is their safety. If you feel they are in danger then call 911. If not, then begin compiling as much information about the situation as possible. Get identifying information on the suspect and try to gather evidence of the financial abuse.

Once that is done you can either contact ElderAngels or your local police, sheriff or social service agency. If you contact ElderAngels, we will assess the case and make recommendations based upon the facts and evidence presented to us. Cases can be filed criminally or civil however each state has different laws regarding financial elder abuse. We cannot provide legal advice however we will direct to the appropriate agencies who can lend assistance to you in the state where the victim lives.
ElderAngels can file a police report on behalf the victim in order to minimize the trauma to the victim. ElderAngels will also advise you on how to prevent such abuse from happening again.
